Job Title: Garden Assistant

Job Description: Due to increased demand in workload and existing services we are looking to recruit an additional team member to help with our day to day tasks for the 2026 season. Ideal candidates will have previous experience in horticulture or a relevant qualification in a similar field. We grow a large amount of fruit, vegetables and flowers so experience working with these would be beneficial to assist in seed raising, planting out, harvesting and preparation for sale. On site we also have a large commercial poly tunnel and two dutch light glasshouses, for seed raising and growing our summer and winter covered crops. You will be working in all weather conditions and it can be a physically demanding job, so candidates must be comfortable with this. You will also be helping in day to day maintenance tasks such as tree pruning, mowing, weeding and watering. All training will be provided for machinery. Due to the educational classes we run on site, candidates must also be able to pass an enhanced DBS check, which we will provide.

Renumeration: Initially we are offering a 30 hour week contract, but we hope as the season gets busier that this could become a full-time 40 hour week. Pay is the National Living Wage of £13.45 per hour, with 20 days holiday (pro rata) plus bank holidays.

There is an option for accommodation to be provided for anyone looking to relocate to the area for this role.
Please send covering letter and CV to: thecommunitygrowers_cic@outlook.com

Note: We are actively looking to engage with people that have a teaching or education background, and for suitable candidates we would have a position available that is a blend of some garden work, and also assisting more in the teaching and classes we run, both on and off site. Please get in touch if you would like to discuss this in further detail!
